Repressions in Barnaul

In Barnaul, repressions began against participants in a rally in defense of political prisoners and freedom of speech, which took place on March 25, 2006. This became known from the appeal of activists to the media and NGOs dated April 11, 2006.

The places of work and study of detainees during the picket receive letters and calls with demands "to take appropriate response measures to rule out such facts in the future ... to report on the measures taken within the prescribed period" .

Picket participants are threatened with expulsion from universities, colleges, dismissal from work. One of the picketers, who worked as a nanny in a kindergarten, was forced to quit her job.

This is being done despite the fact that there has not yet been a court decision on cases of an administrative offense against those detained at the picket.

The picket participants sent a letter to the media, public organizations, political parties, deputies with a request to urgently intervene in the situation and protect the constitutional rights of citizens.
