On April 11, 2006, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court upheld the verdict in the case of Stanislav Dmitrievsky, editor-in-chief of the Pravo-Zashchita newspaper.
The court dismissed both the cassation appeals of the convict and his lawyers, in which they asked to cancel the verdict as unlawful and unfounded, and the presentation of state prosecutors, who insisted on punishment associated with real deprivation of liberty.
Stanislav Dmitrievsky described the court's decision as illegal, unfounded and politically motivated.
