On April 26, 2006, in Tomsk, police detained participants in an unsanctioned rally of the United Civil Front, timed to coincide with the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the city.
The action was attended by 100 to 500 people, including German citizens.
The leader of the Tomsk branch of the United Civil Front, Ivan Tyutrin, said that even before the start of the action, two activists were detained - their car with slogans was stopped by law enforcement officers. The activists spent the whole day at the police station, and the posters "were lost somewhere."
The police did not interfere with the picket, but after it ended, three people were detained, including the leader of the St. Petersburg branch of the UHF, Olga Kurnosova.
