Activists for the rights of people living with HIV were detained on Red Square

On April 27, 2006, 14 people were detained on Red Square in Moscow, who were trying to hold an unsanctioned rally. Immediately after it began, FSO officers ran up to them and began to detain them, beating the activists along the way.

Radio station "Echo of Moscow" reports that the detained protesters demanded to review the current international legislation in the field of patents for drugs for socially significant infections, including HIV.

At the same time, most media outlets, such as Gazeta.Ru, citing the Moscow police department, report that "the picketers called themselves 'anarchists'" and "were going to hold a rally under the slogan of 'improving living conditions in the country'" .

The picketers did not have time to unfold the posters, they were detained by law enforcement officers and taken to the Kitay-Gorod police department. It is reported that, most likely, they will be brought to administrative responsibility.
