On May 2, 2006, the Moscow Metro prosecutor's office completed the investigation and transferred to court a criminal case accusing Vitaly Golikov and Vyacheslav Barketov of beating NTV employee Elkham Mirzoev.
V. Golikov and V. Barketov are accused under clause "a" part 2 of article 282 ("inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity, with the use of violence") and part 1 of article 115 ("deliberate infliction of slight harm to health") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The case was sent for consideration on the merits to the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was established that Golikov and Barketov, being intoxicated, publicly demonstrating obvious national hostility towards NTV employee Mirzoev, in order to humiliate his dignity on the basis of nationality, caused him bodily injuries that resulted in harm to his health,” the report says Moscow prosecutor's office.
