Representatives of the gay community demand that a criminal case be opened against T. Tajuddin

The organizers of the Moscow International Gay Festival "Moscow. Pride '06" received an official response from the Tverskoy Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office of Moscow regarding Talgat Tadzhuddin's statements. Recall that in February, the Supreme Mufti of Russia (Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims) called for "beating" the participants of the gay parade, if it takes place.

The prosecutor's office, after analyzing the interview of T. Tadzhuddin, came to the conclusion that "in his speech, Tadzhuddin, in addition to citing the theses of the Koran officially published and not prohibited by law, did not carry out any actions aimed at inciting social hatred. Therefore, his speech in the media information cannot be regarded as appeals aimed at inciting social discord." In this regard, the prosecutor's office refused to initiate a criminal case against the head of the Central Muslim Spiritual Directorate.

Activists of the gay movement intend to appeal this decision to a higher authority - the Moscow prosecutor's office. According to the head of the GayRussia.ru project, Nikolai Alekseev, "in the response of the prosecutor's office, only that part of T. Tadzhuddin's statements was assessed, where he quotes the Koran, but the document does not contain any assessment of his statements in the part where he states that gays should be" thrash" that they have "no rights"".

On May 5, representatives of the gay community appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office against the decision of the Tver Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office to refuse to initiate a criminal case against T. Tadzhuddin.

On June 7, the Moscow prosecutor's office canceled the decision of the Tver inter-district prosecutor's office to refuse to initiate a criminal case against T. Tadzhuddin. The material was returned to the district prosecutor's office for additional verification.
