On May 2, 2006, an anti-fascist action took place in Smolensk, timed to coincide with the May 9 Victory Day. Activists of the Union of Communist Youth (SCM) painted over the fascist symbols on the walls of the city with the help of spray cans.
Most of the swastikas were painted over in the city center, near the TsPKiO, st. Nikolaev and st. Dzerzhinsky.
A similar action was already held in 2005. Smolensk Komsomol members want to make it an annual event.
