On May 5, 2006, the Ufa World Court found one of the leaders of the Bashkir opposition Airat Dilmukhametov guilty of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“public calls for extremist activity”), and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment with a probationary period of three years.
Initially, A. Dilmukhametov was accused under Art. 280 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, however, subsequently the prosecutor's office of Bashkiria re-qualified the charge of part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code, and the case materials were transferred from the district court to the world court.
