A verdict was passed in Saratov in the case of desecration of a Jewish center

On May 11, 2005, the Kirovsky District Court of Saratov sentenced Maksim Tyurin, born in 1985, for painting swastikas and anti-Semitic inscriptions on the building of the Jewish charitable center "Hasdei Yerushalayim." He was convicted under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity”) and Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“vandalism”) and sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of one year.

The court established that Tyurin, having hostility towards persons of Jewish nationality, in order to incite hatred, enmity towards them, as well as to humiliate their dignity, painted two signs of a fascist swastika on the building of the Saratov Regional Jewish Charitable Center, and also made an anti-Semitic inscription. The verdict notes that the defendant committed these actions twice - on February 19 and 26, 2006.

Tyurin was found guilty by the court that, having hostility towards persons of Jewish nationality, in order to incite hatred, enmity towards these persons, as well as humiliation of their dignity, in the period from 6 pm on February 18 to 8 am on February 19, 2006 with an aerosol can With black paint on the walls of the house, which houses the public organization "Saratov Regional Jewish Charitable Center" Khasdey Yerushalaym ", he painted large-scale two symbols of the fascist swastika in the form of a cross and made the inscriptions" Death to the Jews ".

On February 26, 2006, Tyurin, publicly humiliating their dignity and expressing disrespect for society, again desecrated the building of this organization by drawing a swastika in the form of a cross on the front door.

At the hearing, Tyurin admitted his guilt in full and showed that it was he who made the inscriptions and drawings, motivating his behavior as hooliganism.

The court did not consider his explanations convincing and agreed with the conclusions of the investigation and the position of the public prosecutor.

The verdict has not entered into force.
