"March on Ostankino" banned

On May 17, 2006, the press service of the Yabloko party reported that the prefecture of the North-Eastern District of Moscow banned the opposition march in defense of freedom of speech "March to Ostankino" (from the VDNKh metro station to the Ostankino television center), scheduled for May 20, 2006 .

The refusal is motivated by the inability to block traffic on the highway. However, according to representatives of Yabloko, the references to this are untenable: exactly a year ago, a similar march passed along this route without any incidents.

"We will challenge the illegal ban in court and seek to hold the march as soon as possible ," party representatives say.
