A native of Azerbaijan was beaten in Krasnoyarsk

May 7, 2005 in Krasnoyarsk on the street. Shipbuilding, in the "Shoe Repair" pavilion, 34-year-old Natig Maharramov, a native of Azerbaijan, was beaten.

Two young men in dark clothing and combat boots entered a shoe repair shop and, claiming to be skinheads, demanded money. The owner of the pavilion refused to pay. After that, they began to beat him with fists and kick him, and then they hit him with a machine that makes keys, weighing about 20 kg. An Azerbaijani citizen lost consciousness. When he woke up, they continued to beat him. According to the victim, the skinheads shouted " "We will kill you, we will destroy you non-Russians, chumps . Before leaving, they promised N. Maharramov to return again. Passers-by, in front of whom the beating took place, did not intervene in the conflict.

In the Azerbaijani diaspora, they believe that the skinheads planned their action, since they knew exactly who was working in the pavilion that day. The Sverdlovsk police department is investigating this case.

The head of the public relations department, Mark Denisov, said, “Unfortunately, such cases occur, and not only in our country, but in Russia as a whole. Recently, such cases have become more frequent, unfortunately. Therefore, conclusions need to be drawn by everyone, both the Russian population and For Azerbaijanis in Russia, the actions taken by representatives of this people are often perceived negatively in Russia. I do not think that this will become widespread in Krasnoyarsk."

After this incident, representatives of the national diasporas of Krasnoyarsk sent an appeal to the authorities of the region with a demand to protect them from national extremism.

On May 19, 2006, in Krasnoyarsk, police officers detained two young people, born in 1988, suspected of attacking N. Maharramov. According to unofficial information, both citizens belong to one of the ultra-right youth groups. The Sverdlovsk District Department of Internal Affairs refuses to comment.
