Valery Zorkin - about the institution of confiscation

On May 22, 2006, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Valery Zorkin, speaking in the Federation Council, stated that in accordance with the international obligations assumed, Russia should introduce the institution of property confiscation .

"Russia must ensure not just these procedural norms, but also the implementation of substantive law ," V. Zorkin stressed, in particular. At the same time, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court noted that in a number of European countries, in particular Austria and Slovakia, there is an institution for confiscation of property of legal entities involved in corruption or aiding terrorism.
