In Blagoveshchensk, Muslims participate in protests against S. Penkin’s concerts

On May 29, a three-day picket began in Blagoveshchensk, which included 350 people who pitched tents near the administration building of the Amur Region. Those gathered are protesting against the dominance of gay culture in general and concerts in the city of singer Sergei Penkin in particular. The protesters - leaders of public organizations and representatives of Muslims - were holding posters "Blagoveshchensk is not for homosexuals", "Penkin, get out!", "Clean city - no gays."

The picketers were especially indignant that the singer's performance was included in the program for celebrating the 150th anniversary of Blagoveshchensk.

If the concert still takes place, the protesters intend to picket the Philharmonic building. "We must rebuff such perverts and those who implement a diabolical plan," Ismail Usmanjanov, coordinator of the Muslim diasporas, said.

According to Gazeta , last year's concert by Boris Moiseev, whose performances usually also cause outrage among homophobes, was not accompanied by protests in Blagoveshchensk.
