On June 4, 2006, in the city of Zhukovka, Bryansk region, near the city market, a picket was held by supporters of the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI), directed against merchants from Azerbaijan. The participants of the picket were holding DPNI flags and posters with slogans: "Russia is not a gatehouse! Show your pass" and "Stop illegal immigration!" , "Let's protect Russia from invaders!" and etc.
The action was also attended by "comrades-in-arms of the DPNI" from Orel (probably attracted for mass participation). Among them was the head of the Oryol DPNI, editor-in-chief of the Dozor newspaper Yevgeny Shilin.
On the day of the picket, Azerbaijani businessmen and merchants did not go to work, probably afraid of a possible pogrom by the activists of the movement and their sympathizers.
In 20 minutes. after the start of the picket was dispersed by the police. The UBOP and SOBR officers who arrived at the market detained some of the protesters and took them to the police station.
It should be noted that as early as June 2, the upcoming picket was officially banned by the head of the local administration V. Lebedev, who sent a letter of ban to the organizers of the event, indicating that the slogans of the DPNI "incite ethnic hatred" .
