On June 19, a meeting of representatives of the Orthodox and Muslim communities of the region took place in Vladivostok. The creation of the Seaside Interreligious Council, which should also include Jews and Buddhists, was discussed. The purpose of creating a new organization is "discussion by representatives of different religions of family problems, religious extremism, sectarianism, and the moral education of society as a whole." The first meeting is scheduled for autumn 2006.
