Alexander Samovarov about the national state

On June 15, 2006, the New Politics website published Alexander Samovarov's article "National state or empire?", the author of which believes that the creation of a national state is the most important task, the solution of which can give the country a national idea.

The construction of the Russian Federation from the very beginning was a mistake, since the Russian people, "who, according to the Constitution, is the only source of power in Russia ," is a fiction. Supranational power is normal for an empire. "And today's Russia is not an empire ," the author rightly notes.

In fact, Russia is the state of Russians. The form of the national state, writes A. Samovarov, "is much more acceptable to the peoples of our country than the breeding of a new breed of people - Russians . "

The creation of a single Russian people within the framework of a national state over the next 10-20 years is a reality, says A. Samovarov and continues:

"... the ethnic nationalism of Russians is generated by the fact that Russians do not live in their own national state, but in a non-national "Rossiania". Russians are already consciously afraid of disappearing as a people, of becoming secondary in their own land, and this is precisely what causes the growth of ethnic nationalism, which has never been in Russia..."

From this, A. Samovarov draws the following conclusion: "There must be Russian power in today's Russia. Otherwise, a conflict between supranational power and the Russian people is inevitable . "
