Nationalist action in Biryulyovo

On May 17, 2006, a nationalist action took place in Moscow in the Biryulyovo district under the slogan " "Indigenous people of Biryulyovo against rampant Azerbaijani crime . In addition to residents of the district, activists of radical movements, in particular the leader of the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI), Alexander Belov, took part in the action. And also the infamous State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party Nikolai Kuryanovich. The event was attended by about 150 (according to other sources 200-250) people.

Those present chanted the slogans "Glory to Russia", "Russian order on Russian soil" and "Get out of police department Mamedov" . The police did not intervene.

The reason for the action was an incident when a police officer, an ethnic Azerbaijani, demanded from a resident of Biryulyovo to withdraw a statement about the attack on him by several Azerbaijani citizens (the conflict was of a domestic nature). At the same time, he threatened to initiate a criminal case against the victim.
