On the night of July 3-4, a mosque belonging to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European part of Russia (DUM ER) was blown up in Yakhroma, near Moscow. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties. The explosion, according to the testimony of residents of neighboring houses, was heard at about half past three in the night. The main entrance was completely destroyed, the windows and doors of the mosque and the nearby place for ritual ablution were broken. Windows were shattered in neighboring houses by the blast.
Several commentators suggested that the explosion was connected with the religious summit taking place in Moscow and V. Putin's speech at it. According to Nafigulla Ashirov, head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Asian part of the Russian Federation, the incident is explained by the fact that "destructive nationalist forces decided to remind the society once again: we are here, we are strong!"
