Religious literature was confiscated during a search in the cathedral mosque of Saransk

On July 10, the independent Internet portal Mordovia , responding to reports that appeared on the network regarding the results of a search conducted back in April 2006 in the Saransk Cathedral Mosque, published a press release from the republican UFSB on this subject: "From April 20 to April 22, 2006 in the central the cathedral mosque of the city of Saransk, the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Moldova, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, conducted a search.This investigative action was carried out on the basis of an order from the Buguruslan Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office of the Orenburg Region in the framework of criminal No. case 1 article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, on the facts of incitement of religious hatred and enmity by teachers of the Al-Furkan madrasah in the city of Buguruslan, Orenburg region. Graduates of the named educational institution participated in the hostage-taking in the school building in Beslan in 2004. During the search, it was discovered and seized about 4,000 copies of Islamic literature, including the book "Monotheism", recognized as extremist by the Savelovsky District Court of Moscow.

In the process of conducting investigative actions, it was established that the seized literature was delivered to Saransk from the Al-Furkan Madrasah in January 2006 at the initiative of the Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Mordovia from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European Part of Russia Khalikov Rashit Shamilevich by personal agreement with the former rector madrasah "Al-Furqan" by I. Shangareev .

At the time of the search, a significant part of the literature was in the basement of the mosque in a damaged state. In particular, the Holy Quran, Books, brochures, booklets, audio cassettes, visual aids, etc. became unusable due to unsatisfactory storage conditions.

The materials of the executed order were sent to the prosecutor's office of the Orenburg region.

The employees of the Mordovia portal failed to contact representatives of the Muslim clergy and get their comments on this matter.
