Anti-Semitic leaflets found in Vologda

On the morning of July 13 in Vologda, on poles and buildings in the Zarechye area, members of the local Jewish community found anti-Semitic leaflets stylized as the famous Kukryniksy poster - "We will ruthlessly defeat and destroy the enemy."

In the leaflets, the Soviet soldier from the poster is replaced by an epic hero, and the face of the enemy is replaced by a caricature image of a Jew in a wide-brimmed hat and with sidelocks, whom the hero stabs with a spear. Behind the Jew, instead of the non-aggression pact between the USSR and Germany (which was on the poster), the leaflets depicted the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

Representatives of the local community have already applied to the prosecutor's office and the police. The city prosecutor promised to arrange an inspection and take the case under personal control.

Materials on the fact of the appearance and distribution of leaflets with anti-Semitic content in Vologda were sent to the regional department of the FSB. This was announced on July 31, 2006 by Igor Smirnov, assistant prosecutor of the city of Vologda.

The City Department of Internal Affairs conducted a check on the fact of the appearance and distribution of leaflets. According to Igor Smirnov, the materials obtained during the inspection are under the jurisdiction of the FSB, since they point to Article 280 of the Criminal Code ("public calls for extremist activity").
