On August 7, 2006, it was reported that the head of the local branch of the Russian National Unity (RNU), Ekaterina Melnikova, and "RNE ally" Anton Dukhovich, were arrested in Kazan. A criminal case was initiated against them under Art. 162, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("robbery committed by a group of persons by prior agreement").
According to the DPNI website, the detainees tried to prevent the "satanic coven", however, according to information from circles close to Kazan informals, it follows that members of the RNE staged a skirmish with local Goths who took a fancy to the Arskoye cemetery in the center of Kazan.
In autumn 2006 E. Melnikova and A. Dukhovich were released on bail.
On October 5, 2006, by decision of the prosecutor of the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan, the case was sent for additional investigation.
According to right-wing sites, the same people (E. Melnikova and A. Dukhovich) were detained for attacking a citizen of Mali on October 6, 2006.
