On August 19, 2006, the founding congress of the Party for the Defense of the Russian Constitution "Rus" (PZRK "Rus") took place in Moscow.
MANPADS "Rus" defines itself as a center-right party, "reflecting the national interests of all peoples of Russia, including the state-forming Russian people, in accordance with the fundamental constitutional principle of multinationality of the Russian Federation."
According to the head of the press service of the new party, Alexander Rashitsky (former press secretary of the leader of Russian National Unity (RNE) Alexander Barkashov ), its leaders included, for example, Mikhail Burlakov and Vladimir Davidenko (members of the LDPR faction in the State Duma of the 2nd convocation ). It is also known that former RNU leader Yuri Vasin joined the leadership of the party. At the same time, Rashitsky stated that “Rus” is not a “national-patriotic party.”
V. Davidenko headed the national-patriotic bloc "Spas" in 1999. In 2003, Burlakov, Davidenko and Vasin ran for Sergei Baburin’s Narodnaya Volya party as part of the Rodina bloc, but were removed from the electoral lists, after which they noisily left the party.
It is worth recalling that on the Russian political scene there already exists the United Russian Party "Rus" , which participated in the 2003 elections, but received less than 1% of the votes.
