Caucasian pogroms in Kondopoga

According to right-wing websites, on the night of September 1-2, 2006, Caucasian pogroms began in the city of Kondopoga.

Recall that on August 29, as a result of a household mass brawl in the city, 3 (according to other sources 4) people died.

On September 2, local right-wing radicals planned an anti-Chechen rally, but on the night before the rally, riots broke out in the city. It is possible that the leaders and activists of the DPNI, who arrived in Kondopoga the day before from several cities to participate in the rally, also took part in them. Eyewitnesses on the forums report at least 8 natives of the Caucasus who suffered during the pogroms.

A whole series of incidents are reported, the largest of which was an attempt to defeat the ill-fated cafe "Chaika", near which a fight took place. The rioters (according to some reports, about 70 people, according to others - more than 100), armed with stones and Molotov cocktails, shouting nationalist slogans, attacked the cafe and got into a fight with the riot police, who by that time managed to pull up to the cafe.

In addition, on that night in the city, using the same Molotov cocktails, the Express grocery store and the slot machine hall belonging to immigrants from the Caucasus were burned, an attempt was made to set fire to the office of the owner of the Chaika cafe and the city market.

The exact number of detainees (most - at the cafe "Chaika") is unknown.

By morning, the riots had stopped or were suppressed, the city was patrolled by reinforced police squads.

Later it became known that the arson had begun on the night of August 31-September 1: at about two o'clock in the morning, a slot machine hall on Stroiteley Street was set on fire, and an hour later a grocery store on Yunosti Boulevard was set on fire. Officially confirmed by the prosecutor's office of the city and another arson committed that night - a garage owned by a native of the Caucasus.

Meanwhile, the DPNI website calls on "comrades-in-arms" from different cities to go to Kondopoga to "provide support." The call is worded like this:

* "In the event of continued bloody violence against the indigenous population of the city and the continuation of mass arrests of citizens, the Central Council of the DPNI calls on patriotic national organizations to unite their actions and form joint volunteer groups to travel to the Karelian region.

In the context of the events already taking place in the city, the call of the DPNI can be regarded as a direct incitement to the continuation of the riots.
