Anti-Caucasian action of the DPNI in Moscow

On September 14, 2006, an unauthorized anti-Caucasian rally organized by the DPNI took place in Moscow.

The rally was announced as a student rally. However, the day before, calls appeared on right-wing radical websites for “everyone who cares,” and not “just students,” to come to the monument to the Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi, near the Dobryninskaya metro station, at 7 p.m. At the same time, DPNI stated that it was not the organizer of the rally (which is formally true, since it is not a registered organization) and warned that it was not responsible for possible fights with “ideological opponents” if they suddenly appeared at the rally.

Among the “students” participating in the rally were “Orthodox nationalists” who attacked Khramov’s anti-clerical picket, as well as the leader of the National Socialist Society (NSO).

The picketers adopted a resolution that put forward the following demands: to cancel preferential quotas for admission to capital universities for immigrants from the Caucasus and CIS countries, as well as to restore order in Moscow dormitories. The DPNI leader forwarded the appeal to the Ministry of Education.

From the very beginning of the action until its end, police officers were on duty around the protesters. In total, 300 people took part in the rally, 200 of whom were detained. After about two hours, all detainees were released.
