On September 14, 2006, the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region approved the indictment and transferred to the regional court the criminal case of murder motivated by ethnic hatred. A group of 15 people aged 12 to 17 are accused of murdering a 21-year-old Jew with extreme cruelty on October 1, 2005.
With respect to 5 teenagers, at the request of the investigator, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention, and with respect to 10 minors who did not take part in the murder, criminal prosecution was terminated due to the fact that they did not reach the age of criminal responsibility and an amnesty act .
According to the results of the investigation, four defendants were charged by the prosecutor's office under paragraphs. f, l. Part 2 Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“murder committed by a group of persons by prior agreement on the motive of national, racial, religious hatred or enmity or blood feud”), and the girl under part 5 of article 33, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“complicity in the commission of the murder"), since it was she, according to the investigation, who found and provided her accomplices with the instrument of crime - the grave cross.
During the investigation of the criminal case, the teenagers, against whom the criminal prosecution was terminated, were registered with the juvenile department of the police department and the commission for juvenile affairs.
