In Karelia, security forces were dismissed

On October 5, 2006, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed decrees on the dismissal of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karelia, Major General of Militia Dmitry Mikhailov and the head of the FSB Directorate for Karelia, Major General Alexei Dorofeev.

At the same time, Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika fired Vladimir Panasenko, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Karelia, due to "retirement for long service."
