A photo exhibition dedicated to tolerance opened in St. Petersburg
October 20, 2006 in St. Petersburg in the atrium of the Commandant's House of the Peter and Paul Fortress opened the exhibition "Common Ground. Different people: how similar they are.
"Common Ground" is a photo exhibition illustrating various aspects of Muslim life in the UK, the relationship between British Muslim and non-Muslim populations. The exhibition in St. Petersburg presents one hundred of the best works of professional photographers from St. Petersburg and Moscow on the topic of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional tolerance. The epigraph to the exhibition is the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupery: "If I am not like you in some way, I do not offend you at all, but on the contrary, I bestow."
The Russian works presented at the exhibition were selected in the course of a creative competition, which was held by the British Consulate General and the Peter and Paul Fortress Development Fund with the support of the photojournalists section of the St. Petersburg Union of Journalists this summer. On November 16 - the International Day for Tolerance - the names of the winners of the competition will be announced.
