Employees of the FSB department for the Astrakhan region detained members of the extremist group Jamaat Muvahids, who, according to the FSB, were planning a terrorist act. During a search at the place of residence of the detainees, an improvised explosive device, a sawn-off hunting rifle and a set of ammunition for it, a hand fragmentation grenade, as well as printed literature, audio and video materials of an extremist nature were seized. According to the public relations group of the Federal Security Service, members of the Jamaat Muvahids kept in touch with other similar groups operating in Russia and collected funds.
The prosecutor's office and the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Astrakhan region opened criminal cases under the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "illegal possession of weapons and ammunition" and "organization of an extremist community."
