On December 21-23, 2006 in the city of Chapaevsk in the House of Children's Creativity a seminar-training "Tolerance is an integral part of civil society" was held. The seminar was held within the framework of the program "Different, but not alien - peace through culture". The event was attended by: leaders and activists of national public centers, specialists from the regional youth socialization center and the youth department of the urban district, the interdepartmental commission on drug trafficking under the administration of the urban district and the center for social services for the population of the urban district, school teachers, teachers of additional education, representatives of the House Friendship between nations.
The seminar was opened by the head of the urban district of Chapaevsk N. Malakhov, who delivered a welcoming speech. During the event, N. Osipova, consultant of the Department for Information Policy and Interaction with Civil Society Institutions of the Office of the Government of the Samara Region, spoke on "The state of interethnic relations in the Samara region", director of the Center for Interethnic Cooperation (Moscow) A. Airapetyan "Tolerance is an integral part of civil society".
The workshop participants worked in small groups, listened to lectures and took part in discussions. During the event, the following issues were discussed: what problems exist in the Samara region, international and Russian experience of interaction between authorities and NGOs, the ability of the authorities of our region to promote the ideas of tolerance, and others. At the end, recommendations were made on the issues discussed.
