In St. Petersburg, Orthodox Christians held a protest against abortion

On January 13, the St. Petersburg branch of the Orthodox medical and educational center "Life" held a prayer stand in front of the Kazan Cathedral as part of the action "Orthodox against abortion". According to the Interfax-religion portal , "at noon on the square in front of the Kazan Cathedral, representatives of the Orthodox community lit candles 'about saving unborn babies and delivering parents from the sin of abortion'.

The action was held with the blessing of the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Vladimir. The organizers lit many candles in memory of uterine babies being killed in Russia."

The prayer standing was timed to coincide with the day of memory of fourteen thousand babies killed in Bethlehem on the orders of King Herod, celebrated by the Orthodox Church on January 11 according to the new style.
