The Public Council of the Central Federal District and the Council for Theology of the Educational and Methodological Association (UMO) for classical university education created a working group to develop a comprehensive program for the development of theological education. This group included representatives of the Public Council of the Central Federal District, federal and regional authorities, experts from the Theology Council of the UMO, researchers from universities using theological programs.
The Public Council of the Central Federal District and the Council for Theology circulated a resolution, which, in particular, states: "In the process of integrating the Russian education system into the European and world systems, the further development of domestic theological education is of particular importance as a necessary condition for ensuring the competitiveness of Russian humanitarian knowledge."
The program will include scientific and practical seminars and conferences and the development of guidelines for teaching theology at various faculties. The working group intends to pay attention to the problem of employment of graduates of theological faculties. The experts addressed the Civic Chamber with a proposal to take control of the development of multi-confessional theological education, the development of scientific standards in theology, and also to draw the attention of public organizations to this topic.
