On February 23, 2007, Turkish citizens were killed in Samara. The bodies of the dead were found in an apartment on Klinicheskaya Street. Both experts recorded multiple stab wounds in the chest and neck. Turkish citizens worked as cooks in the Antalya cafe. Their names were not released in the interests of the investigation.

A criminal case was initiated under paragraph "a" part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("murder"). According to an employee of the Samara Internal Affairs Directorate, the investigation is considering two main versions of the murder of Turkish citizens - "on national and domestic grounds." According to Sergey Pechavin, Prosecutor of the Leninsky District, a man suspected of being involved in this crime has been detained.

On February 24, 2007, a spontaneous rally in memory of the dead citizens of Turkey was held near the Samara mosque.

Valery Pavlyukevich, chairman of the Samara Free Society Association, said that in Samara foreign citizens are often beaten on the basis of nationalism: "You don't come across this every day, but xenophobic moods do exist in society . " The same was reported by student Ilshat Rustamov, who felt harassment on a national basis.
