As a result of the reform of the forest industry in the Pskov region, its staff was reduced from 2,400 people to 760. This became known during a meeting of the Forest Club, which took place on February 16 in the hall of the Central Library of the Strugokrasnensky District, and was devoted to the application of the new Forest Code in the Pskov region. Since January 1, 2007, the subject of the Russian Federation has most of the functions and powers in forest management. The region must develop forest plans and forest management regulations, in accordance with which forests will be exploited and restored. The functions of supervision and control of the activities of forest users, as well as the protection of forests from poachers, pests, and fires also fall on the shoulders of the subjects. The Forestry Agency for the Pskov Region has been liquidated since the new year. On February 22, Prosecutor of the Pskov Region Nikolai Lepikhin took part in a meeting on the results of the work of the prosecutor's offices of the subjects of the Federation of the North-Western Federal District in 2006, which was held in Veliky Novgorod under the chairmanship of the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika. Nikolai Lepikhin made a report on the results of work for the past year. On February 22, the solemn opening of the new production of Window Manufactory LLC took place - a plant for the production of plastic products, which has no analogues in the North-West. This is a fully automated line with a capacity of 120 items per day. The enterprise is organized on the basis of the production facilities of the Pskovtehgaz holding of enterprises. The total investment is about 25 million rubles, the estimated payback period is 2.5 years. The production uses the equipment of German firms "Urban" and "Rapid". Velikoluksky children's and youth theater "Troubadour" won first place in the first International competition of theatrical art in Berlin (Germany), held from February 22 to 25. 8 children's groups from several countries of the world took part in the competition, each presented one performance to the jury. All productions were united by a common theme - "Her Majesty the Tale". The competition opened with the play "Shoot" by the Troubadour Theater from the city of Velikie Luki. Also in the program of the festival were the play "Cinderella" by the Bonn children's theater "I", "The Bremen Town Musicians" by the theater "Vaganty" from the city of Dedovsk, the production of "Pinocchio" by the Moscow theater "Spark" and others. The 42nd edition of the series of works "Mikhailovskaya Pushkiniana" of the State Museum-Reserve of A. S. Pushkin "Mikhailovskoe" has been published. The 42nd book of the series contains materials from the 9th February Museum Readings in memory of S. S. Geychenko “Literary Topography of Historical Places” and the Mikhailovsky Pushkin Readings “1826”. The organizers of the event are the Department of Education of the Pskov Region and the Pskov Regional House of Childhood and Youth "Rainbow". The event will bring together about 200 participants, winners of the regional stages of the festival, from 20 districts of the region. The children will take part in the work of 5 sections: "Musical", "Artistic Word", "Choreographic", "Theatrical", "Research" and "Section of Young Poets and Prose Writers". On February 19, the Pskov journalist, writer and historian Oleg Andreyevich Kalkin died late in the evening. O. A. Kalkin was born in 1943 in Tomsk, after high school he worked as a bricklayer, then he served in the rocket troops. He came to Pskov to study and graduated from the Faculty of History of the Pskov Pedagogical Institute. S. M. Kirov. From 1974 to 1994, he lived with his family in Estonia, taught history at school, combined teaching with the post of editor of one of the book publishers, and also headed the Slavia cultural and historical society. Since 1994 he lived in Pskov, worked as an editor of the regional radio, his stories were published in collections and periodicals. The writer devoted a lot of time to historical research on the theme of the white movement, wrote the book "On the rebellious frontiers of Russia." Oleg Kalkin was a member of the Pskov regional branch of the Writers' Union of Russia and headed it for two years. / PAI
