According to the all-Russian statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2006 about 200 criminal cases were opened under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national, racial, religious hatred).
In addition, about 50 criminal cases initiated under Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activity), 282-1 (organization of an extremist community), 282-2 (organization of the activities of an extremist organization) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Note that cases under Art. 282-2 of the Criminal Code were initiated mainly for crimes related to the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
