On March 9, 2007, on Kulibina Street in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, six unidentified persons attacked two 19-year-old Moroccan citizens studying preparatory courses at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The attackers beat the foreigners while shouting nationalist slogans.
The victims received medical assistance.
Law enforcement authorities do not rule out that the Moroccans were attacked by skinheads. The Prosecutor's Office of the Soviet District initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("incitement of national, racial or religious hatred").
