The first book "The Land near the Sky itself" was published in 1966 in the East Siberian Book Publishing House. A year later, he was admitted to the Union of Writers of the USSR.

Rasputin is recognized as a classic during his lifetime, his work is known throughout the world. He is the author of such remarkable works as “Money for Mary”, “Less term”, “Farewell to the Mater”, “Fire”, “Live and Remember”. During the last work in 1977, Rasputin received the first state prize of the USSR (he received the second after 10 years).
