On March 19, 2007, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation (SC) considered the cassation appeal against the verdict of the Voronezh Regional Court in the case of the murder of Angelis Hurtado Enrique, a student from Peru.
The decision of the Supreme Court changed the sentence against Dmitry Usov. D. Usov's actions were reclassified from Part 2 of Art. 213 (hooliganism committed by a group of persons) to Part 1 of Article 213 (hooliganism). His sentence was reduced from 4 to 3 years in prison. In addition, minor Oleg Aliferenko was subjected to a milder penalty in the form of a fine of 30,000 rubles.
The verdict against the other participants in the crime was upheld by the Supreme Court.
