Racist incident at a hockey match in Magnitogorsk

The Ministry of Tatarstan for Youth Affairs and Sports sent a telegram to the Metallurg hockey club, the Russian Hockey Federation and Rossport, pointing out the unsportsmanlike behavior of Metallurg fans.

"We consider this as an unfriendly, unsportsmanlike step and a call for ethnic hatred. Such incidents are unacceptable, and we believe that the leadership of Rossport should take appropriate measures," said the head of the Ministry of Youth of the Republic of Tatarstan, Marat Bariev .

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev called the actions of Magnitogorsk fans "inferiority and lack of intelligence." "We cannot leave such facts unnoticed ," he stressed.
