A criminal case has been initiated in Perm under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation

On February 5, 2007, the prosecutor's office of the Perm Territory opened a criminal case over the beating by Georgian citizens of Viktor Birzhevoi, a visitor to the Argo cafe, accompanied by insults on "ethnic grounds".

The case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“incitement of national hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity”) in connection with “nationalist statements against the victim by the citizens of Georgia” , as well as under paragraph “c” Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("theft committed with the use of significant damage to a citizen") on the fact of the theft of a cell phone.
