The prosecutor's office is checking Echo of Moscow in connection with G. Kasparov's speech

On April 16, 2007, the FSB in Moscow, at the direction of the Moscow prosecutor's office, began an investigation into Garry Kasparov's participation in the "Kontradar" ("Echo of Moscow") program on April 8, 2007. The UFSB Investigative Service sent an appeal to the radio station stating that Kasparov's calls to take part in the "March of Dissent" on April 14, 2007 can be qualified as "a public call for extremist activity" (Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In order to analyze the statements of the leader of the "Other Russia", the FSB requested "an electronic medium with a recording of the program "Counterattack" on 04/08/2007 and a transcript of Kasparov's speech in the named program."

It is noteworthy that in the call to come to the "March of Dissent", the prosecutor's office and the FSB suspect a violation not of the law on rallies and marches (the Moscow authorities did not give permission for the event), but of Article 280 of the Criminal Code, and this is a more serious suspicion.
