The court of the Chita region found signs of extremism in the materials of the newspaper "Russian Transbaikalia" (RZ). The court decision was based on the submission of the regional prosecutor's office, which was introduced in accordance with Article 13 of the Federal Law "On Counteracting Extremist Activities" in connection with the publication by the newspaper on behalf of the Chita Regional Department of the Union of the Russian People of the article "Responses to materials on the events in Kharagun on the website" People's Control " .
According to the conclusion of linguist experts of the Transbaikal State Humanitarian Pedagogical University, the materials are in the nature of "disdainful, contemptuous attitude towards some persons by nationality" . The article "used swear names of groups of these persons, which generally offended their honor and dignity on a national basis and incited ethnic hatred" .
If the court decision comes into force, the unsold part of the newspaper's circulation will be confiscated, and the material recognized as extremist will be included in the federal list of extremist materials not subject to distribution in the territory of the Russian Federation.
Let us recall that in April 2006 the regional prosecutor's office issued a warning to the editor-in-chief of the RZ, S. Avdeev, about the inadmissibility of violating anti-extremist legislation.
