Orthodox Christians continue to protest against the construction of the Russian-American Christian Institute in Moscow

About a hundred and fifty people came out on April 22 for another rally organized by Orthodox opponents of the construction of the Russian-American Christian Institute (RAHI) in Moscow, the reports Interfax-religion portal . Although in March the Arbitration Court satisfied the claim of the residents of the Babushkinsky microdistrict, who demanded the cessation of construction work, according to the rally participants, the construction still continues.

"If the administration of the institute wants to defend its right to construction, it is still obliged to suspend it. But construction continues even more intensively than before. RAHI violates the law by refusing to recognize the court's decision," Vladimir Kryuchkin, one of the organizers of the action, told reporters.

On May 6, representatives of the Orthodox community installed a worship cross near the construction site. According to Interfax-Religion, "priest Alexander Timofeev performed the rite of consecration of the newly erected cross, after which he served an akathist to the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious, whose memory was celebrated by the Orthodox Church on May 6.

About 50 people attended the ceremony of consecrating the cross. Members of the initiative group informed Interfax of their intention to continue collecting signatures against the construction of the Russian Academy of Arts, as well as to seek the construction of an Orthodox chapel or church on this site.
