An explosion planned by neo-Nazis was prevented in St. Petersburg

On April 25, 2007, it became known that in St. Petersburg, members of extremist groups suspected of involvement in organizing the explosion in the McDonald's cafe on February 18 were preparing another explosion - in the cinema hall "Dom Kino" during the film festival against racism and xenophobia "Open your eyes" , which took place on March 21-25. The explosion was prevented by law enforcement officers.

This was announced by Vladislav Piotrovsky, head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, speaking in the Legislative Assembly of the city with a report on the activities of his department for the 1st quarter of 2007.

The head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate specified that a total of 20 people were identified as members of informal youth organizations suspected of committing a terrorist attack at McDonald's, blowing up a flower stall near the Vladimirskaya metro station, and attempting to kill anti-fascist Ivan Yelin.

Of the 20 suspects, according to him, four of the "most dangerous" were arrested - Kovalchuk, Skoroye, Kosyakov, Jonushauskas (6 were previously reported).
