A new type of nationalist propaganda in the Amur region

At the end of April 2007, a correspondent of the newspaper Amurskaya Pravda (AP) received a ten-ruble bill with a blue stamp - "Nationalism will save us." The journalist received a banknote for change in a fixed-route taxi.

The editors of the AP reported the discovery in the department of the FSB and the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Amur Region. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the matter. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved. “In the inscription on the banknote, one can probably see signs of inciting ethnic hatred, for which criminal liability is provided. In particular, under Articles 280 of the Criminal Code “Public call for extremist activity” and 282 of the Criminal Code “Inciting hatred or enmity (national, racial and religious ), as well as the humiliation of human dignity ," said Yury Levchenko, head of the investigative unit of the Regional Internal Affairs Directorate.

This is the first known case of placing nationalist appeals on banknotes.
