According to the "Islamic Committee" , in correctional institutions of Tatarstan, active visitors to mosques "were taken under special control." Their personal files were marked "Prone to extremism."
In May, Muslim prisoners began to be transferred outside the republic. For example, on May 15, 6 people were transferred from FGU IK-2 in Kazan. This was motivated by their penchant for extremism. The colony was actively visited by representatives of Muslim organizations.
The management of the correctional institution refers to the special directives of the FSB.
Muslim prisoners of colony IK-5 in Sviyazhsk told the "Islamic Committee" that newcomers to the colony were placed in a nearby depot. There, correctional officers beat prisoners and subject them to humiliation and sexual violence.
The administration of the colony is trying to convince the mothers who come with their lawyers that there are no violations in the correctional facility.
An employee of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, Timur Ibragimov , told IslamNews that the information of the "Islamic Committee" is not true. T. Ibragimov regularly visits colonies in the territory of the republic, including in Sviyazhsk. According to him, "despite the fact that the Muslim detachment was recently disbanded, the guys continue to read five prayers in the mosque and do not observe any violations in the field of human rights."
