The prosecutor's office of the Nadezhdinsky district of Primorye opened a criminal case against the Orthodox community "Family Hearth" on the facts of rough treatment of foster children. The community unites 8 families, out of 37 children living here, 24 are adopted.
"Facts were revealed when children were punished with beatings, starved, forced to do hard physical work," said Nomokonova, senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Primorsky Territory. The prosecutor's office has already reported these facts to the police, but they refused to open a criminal case. Having canceled this decision, the prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case itself.
"Izvestia" notes that there is evidence only in relation to one of the eight families, but a criminal case has been initiated against the entire community.
The reason for the check was the words of one of the pupils, Olesya Meshcheryakova, who complained to a former teacher that children in the community were forbidden to take food out of the kitchen. The teacher wrote a statement to the prosecutor's office, but then refused it. The prosecutor's office found another pupil of the orphanage, who agreed to write a statement. The head of the community Oleg Petruk claims that this girl, leaving, left a letter of thanks.
