Students killed in Stavropol

On the night of June 3, 2007, students of the Stavropol State University (SSU) and the Stavropol Polytechnic Institute, 19-year-old Viktor Chadin and 21-year-old Pavel Blokhin, were killed in Stavropol.

A random witness to the incident called the Leninsky district police department and reported that two young men were lying in blood at the entrance to the Stavropol Medical Academy. The task force that arrived at the scene found that each of the victims had been stabbed several times, including in the throat. An external surveillance camera was installed at the security point of the medical academy; there is a video recording of the murder - it was seized by investigators.

On the fact of the murder of students, the prosecutor's office of the Leninsky district of the city of Stavropol opened a criminal case under Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“murder of two or more persons”). The recording shows that 4 people are fighting among themselves, then two of them run away. Based on the data obtained, a composite sketch of the murder suspect was compiled. According to the First Deputy Prosecutor of the Stavropol Territory, Sergei Dubrovin, his department does not believe that ethnic hatred was the motive for the murder. The prosecutor's office is pursuing four versions of what happened. The official did not specify what these versions were.

According to one version, the murder was committed out of blood feud for the death of a Chechen student during a mass brawl on May 24. However, the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Stavropol Territory claims that the students became victims of robbers. (It was previously reported that money and mobile phones were left with the victims). However, the police have been transferred to an enhanced duty regime.

There are rumors in the city that, in addition to the students, three people were killed - two girls and a guy. The police do not confirm this information.

On June 3, 2007, about 300-400 representatives of Slavic public and Cossack organizations in the Stavropol region gathered at the monument to General Ermolov for the annual rally in honor of the general’s birthday.

The event was attended by representatives of RONS and the right-wing neo-pagan organization Union of Slavic Communities of the Slavic Native Faith (USO SRV, another version of the name - SSS), whose leader Vladimir Nesterov is the organizer of the “Russian March in the City”. The SSS organization is associated with the ultra-right “Ermolovsky Front” (skin organization of the Stavropol Territory).

The leader of RONS I. Artemov, who arrived in Stavropol, spoke at the rally, whose speech was accompanied by chants of “Glory to Russia.” I. Artemov was given a warning about “the inadmissibility of holding unauthorized rallies.”

Those gathered adopted an appeal to the authorities and law enforcement agencies. The appeal contains demands for the closure of “various cultural centers of national (Caucasian) diasporas, which are financed from the state budget,” as well as the introduction of a curfew in Stavropol and the resignation of the leadership of the regional Security Council and the Committee on Nationalities Affairs.

The day before, the place of death of the students was thrown with flowers, and on Stavropol forums there were calls “to all Slavs” on June 5, the day of the funeral of the murdered students, to come to the “gathering”, which will take place on the square.
