On June 4, the World Russian People's Council (VRNS) appealed to the Presnensky Court of Moscow with a claim for the protection of business reputation. The journalist Sergei Bychkov and the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper are listed as defendants. The reason for the claim was the articles devoted to the XI World Russian People's Council published by S. Bychkov in March 2007.
Roman Silantiev, executive director of VRNS programs, said that the author of the articles cited "a whole series of fabrications insulting the VRNS, which the court must now evaluate." The plaintiffs are asking to oblige Moskovsky Komsomolets to publish a refutation, as well as to recover 200 thousand rubles from the newspaper and S. Bychkov as compensation for damage caused to business reputation.
