In Yoshkar-Ola, legal action continues in the case of the brochure “The Priest Speaks”

On June 14, 2007, the Yoshkar-Ola city court decided to terminate the proceedings on the recognition of Vitaly Tanakov's brochure "Onaen oil" ("The Priest Speaks") as extremist literature (Article 254 of the Civil Law Code).

The court ruled to terminate the proceedings on the grounds that the prosecutor's office was unable to provide the brochure itself, as well as to prove that this brochure exists somewhere else.

On July 10, 2007, the prosecutor's office of Yoshkar-Ola appealed the city court's decision to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Mari El, as a result of which a new court was appointed, which will take place on August 8, 2007.

The reason for the cancellation of the previous decision was the fact that the court did not offer the prosecutor and Tanakov to provide information about the presence of brochures in their and other persons, did not offer them to provide these brochures to the court .

Let us recall that on December 25, 2006, the Yoshkar-Ola city court sentenced Vitaly Tanakov, who was charged under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("inciting national and religious hatred"), to 120 hours of compulsory work.
