In early July 2007, an agreement was reached on cooperation during the election campaigns between the People's Union of Sergei Baburin and the former Concept Party "Unification" of General Konstantin Petrov (recall that in March the party was liquidated on a formal basis and later transformed into the All-Russian People's Movement "Course of Truth and unity", thus retaining the abbreviation KPE).
As stated in a press release signed by the leaders of both organizations, the agreement provides for the inclusion of members of the KPE in the list of the People's Union in future elections to the State Duma and the incorporation of the provisions of the "Dead Water" Public Security Concept of the KPE into the program documents of Baburin's party. ("Dead Water" is a collection of fantastic pseudo-scientific texts that has been propagated for many years by a group of nationalist ideologues; the general public could get some idea of the views of the CPE during the pre-election televised debates in the fall of 2003.)
It should be noted that the CPE itself is, on the whole, a rather moderate national-patriotic movement, using mainly anti-Semitic rhetoric of varying degrees of intensity. However, its leader, General Konstantin Petrov, in 2005 joined the radical ethno-nationalist association of pagan anti-Semites - the Union of Slavic Communities (SSO), the main ideologist of which is Alexander Aratov, convicted in July 2007 for inciting national hatred.
Information about the agreement is published only on the KPE website, a copy of the document with signatures is attached. On the site of the People's Union, this exotic pre-election alliance, even for national patriots, is not (yet) mentioned.
